Are you getting enough fiber? Fiber is a huge help! Do you have Cracklin' Oat Bran cereal in Oz land? I think a serving is 3/4 of a cup-packed with fiber and with a little rice milk will really help you get through the afternoon. If you find that afternoons are your hungry time, bring WAY more than you think you'll need: A baggie full of hot air popcorn, carrot sticks, celery, cereal. Some people find that they can eat a lighter lunch and save some of their calories for that snack-attack time. This is actually very exciting if you look at it right!!! You're learning! You're learning that afternoons are hard for you. It's how your body and mind works. So you GO WITH that and don't try to overcome it with "willpower". Celebrate! You found out something that doesn't work--now find out what DOES work. That's the cool part. We're all different so something that works for me might NEVER work for you.
